Chapter 170 Lord of the Forest ~ Evil Spirit
The two exchanged a glance, and Miyano immediately gave chase.
Yumeko realized something was wrong and turned to run away.
But how could a child run fast? He was caught and knocked unconscious before long.
"What should we do? Just kill them?"
"Let him go??" Miyano wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his voice trembling slightly, his eyes filled with panic and struggle.
He glanced at Mengzi lying on the ground, powerless to resist, and felt a mix of emotions. Guilt surged up like a tide, but the current situation left him no time to think too much about morality and conscience.
Sugawa Mifuko bit her lip, a hint of hesitation on her face, but it was quickly replaced by ruthlessness: "If we don't kill her, and she wakes up and calls the police, we're all doomed!" Her hands clenched into fists, her knuckles turning white from the force, and her eyes revealed a hint of madness and determination.
"I think we should just bury her here, and nobody will know!"
Buried alive?
Miyano was taken aback by Mifuko's decision. Was this really his lover, who was much younger than him?
A chill ran through Miyano. He looked at Mifuko's face, twisted with madness, and took a step back. "This...this is too cruel. We've already killed people. We can't go on like this." Miyano's voice was pleading, trying to awaken the last shred of humanity in Mifuko.
Mifuko sneered, "Now you're scared? Why didn't you hold back when you killed your wife? Stop pretending. Either we fight together, or I'll bury you too." As she spoke, she bent down, picked up a shovel, and stared fiercely at Miyano.
Miyano's body trembled even more violently. His mind was filled with memories of the past, a mixture of sweetness and madness that plunged him into deep despair.
But his will to survive still made him mechanically pick up the shovel, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
Just as they were about to make their move, a sudden gust of cold wind blew through the woods, making a rustling sound as if countless eyes were watching them from the darkness.
Mifuko looked around in terror. "Is...is there a ghost?" Her voice trembled as fear finally began to spread through her heart.
Miyano was so frightened that her face turned pale, and she almost dropped the shovel in her hand.
Miyano paused for a moment, trying to appear calm, and said, "It's getting windy, don't scare yourself."
Mifuko glared at Miyano, but the fear in her eyes was hard to hide: "Don't try to fool me, this place is really weird!" Despite saying that, she loosened her grip on the shovel slightly, clearly frightened by the sudden noise.
Miyano swallowed hard, trying to keep his voice steady: "No matter what, let's resolve this first, otherwise problems will arise sooner or later." As he spoke, he looked at Yumeko on the ground, his guilt growing stronger, but he was already in a difficult situation.
Just as they were about to take action again, a rustling sound suddenly came from the pit.
But they haven't even made a move yet...
The two exchanged a glance and then turned to run away.
But before they could run more than a few steps, a pale hand emerged from the pit, followed by a figure slowly sitting up. Miyano and Mifuko turned around in horror, and in the dim moonlight, they recognized the face—it was Miyano's strangled wife!
Her hair was disheveled, her face was deathly pale, and her eyes were lifeless, yet she stared intently at Miyano and Mifuko. Her lips trembled slightly as she uttered a chilling voice: "Why...why did you hurt me..."
Mifuko collapsed to the ground in terror, desperately crawling backward while muttering, "It wasn't me, it wasn't me..." Miyano's legs went weak, and he could barely stand. He shook his head in horror, trying to deny what he was seeing: "This is impossible, you're clearly dead!"
Just then, the surrounding trees began to shake violently, as if controlled by an invisible force.
The wind howled, like the weeping of countless wronged souls.
Miyano's throat was gripped tightly by a pair of icy hands. His eyes widened in terror as he struggled desperately, trying to pry open the vise-like fingers, but to no avail. His face turned from white to purple, and his breathing became increasingly difficult, only managing faint "gurgling" sounds.
Terrified, Mifuko turned to run away without thinking, but tripped over a tree root and fell heavily to the ground. Ignoring the pain, she scrambled forward on all fours, screaming, "Help! There's a ghost!"
Just when Miyano thought he was going to die, the grip of those hands suddenly loosened, and he took the opportunity to gasp for breath and cough desperately.
However, before he could recover, another sinister laugh rang in his ears, a sound that seemed to come from the depths of hell, making his hair stand on end.
Immediately afterwards, a dark figure darted through the woods, bringing with it a cool breeze.
Miyano and Fukuko looked around in terror, but could see nothing clearly. They felt an invisible fear tightly enveloping them, plunging them into an abyss of despair.
Soon those hands reached for their necks.
In no time at all, the two were strangled to death.
The two lost control of their bodies and fell to the ground.
The nearest tree stretched out its branches and pulled them away...
The woman turned to look at Mengzi, reached out and grabbed at her, trying to crush her to death.
Just as that hand was about to touch Yumeko, a strange light emanated from Yumeko's body. The light seemed to contain some kind of mysterious power, which forcefully repelled the woman's hand.
The woman let out a piercing scream, seemingly terrified of the power.
She could see several clumps of fluff appearing on Yumeko's body.
"Let that child go!"
A beautiful voice reached the demon's ears. He looked at the figure that had suddenly appeared and sneered, "Hundreds of years have passed, and you're still living in this forest?"
The figure gradually became clearer; it was a woman dressed in white, with a beautiful face that exuded a coldness, and eyes full of determination. She stood quietly in front of Mengzi, like a barrier, separating Mengzi from danger.
"These are innocent children. You have already avenged your family; do not commit further murders," the woman in white said softly, her voice gentle yet carrying an undeniable authority.
The evil spirit sneered, "I have been imprisoned in this dark underground for many years, suffering in agony. They all deserve to die!" After saying that, it made a move to pounce on Mengzi again, but was once again forced back by the light emanating from the woman in white.
The woman in white frowned slightly, formed a hand seal, and uttered an unfamiliar and difficult-to-understand incantation.
The surrounding trees began to move slowly, their branches intertwining to form a complex magic circle that trapped the evil spirit within.
"Your obsession runs too deep, don't force me to take action!"
The evil spirit's eyes darted around, and a plan came to mind.
Instead, let the child fish so he can recharge.
