Chapter 12 My name is Lux! Scared yet?
When Caitlin woke up again, apart from a slight pain in her left lower back, she did not feel any other harm or abuse she had suffered.
She struggled to move her neck, her eyes scanning the surroundings, and discovered that she had been dressed in clean clothes, and even her boots had been covered with socks.
With her arms tied behind her back removed and the unfamiliar surroundings, she seemed to be taking a short nap as usual after taking a shower.
"Hello?"
"Is anyone home?"
"Feed?"
As Caitlin called out, she quickly analyzed her current situation in her mind:
I'm obviously not at home right now; I've probably been kidnapped?
The blue-haired girl who broke the glass and rushed out was probably the one who started all of this.
The steam from the shower obscured her face, so who was she? And why was she doing this?
I'm dressed neatly now, so that girl probably doesn't mean me any harm, therefore...
"Sister, stop calling me that, it's annoying."
"I already regret getting involved with you. If you don't behave, I really will throw you off!"
After seeing that she was not being abused, Caitlin guessed that her kidnappers probably didn't intend to harm her, so she kept shouting, which finally drew a harsh rebuke.
She looked in the direction the sound came from—
The massive propeller was wedged in the middle of a bottomless pit, forming a precarious, isolated platform. She sat in the middle of one propeller, while the creature she had been speaking to approach her from the other.
The other person was thin, but inexplicably chose a pair of baggy mid-length trousers, which looked out of place.
Even more outrageous, the other person seemed to not want to see their face, so they wore a teddy bear headgear, adding to the comical effect.
"Jinx? You're the one who knocked me out and brought me here?"
Why?
The teddy bear headgear was useless; Caitlyn recognized Jinx's identity at a glance.
Putting aside her iconic figure and way of speaking, Caitlin, who had met Jinx once on the cargo ship, was enough to recognize her just by her two long blue braids that weren't completely hidden.
"Jinx? Who's that? I'm not Jinx, anyway."
After her "disguise" was seen through at a glance, Jinx was clearly very unconvinced and loudly retorted, refusing to admit it to the end.
She felt that she had calmed down now.
He felt somewhat regretful about breaking the windows of the Giramann family's house and then kicking Caitlin unconscious.
What she regretted was that she hadn't remembered Aaron's previous instructions and had only thought about punishing the Piltover man who had spent the night with Aaron.
But now that she's kidnapped Caitlyn and taken her to her "secret base," Jinx might as well go all the way and play the role of the robber.
Since she's playing a role, she can't be foolish enough to use her own identity.
Even though the disguise was crude, Jinx still tried her best to immerse herself in the role, shaking the bear headgear on her head and thinking about the names Aaron had mentioned when he told her bedtime stories:
"Let me tell you, my real name is, well, that... uh..."
Jinx pondered for a long time, and finally found a name in the corner of her memory that Aaron jokingly called "the big villain".
"Lux!"
"Yes, my name is actually Lux, and Lux is the one who kidnapped you!"
Jinx smugly twisted her body, thinking that Caitlyn would definitely be scared by the name.
After all, when she first heard Aaron tell the story, she couldn't help but shudder when she heard that this girl named "Lux" had killed thousands of people!
"Uh... okay."
"Miss Lux, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Caitlin was not intimidated.
She was mostly speechless, like the speechless feeling of watching children play house.
This little incident even made Caitlin's last bit of tension and panic disappear.
Aside from not knowing why Jinx wanted to kidnap her, she no longer thought Jinx would kill her.
the reason is simple:
There was a thug who took a member of parliament hostage before.
But as soon as they opened their mouths, they threatened to blow up the Piltover Parliament building.
And what about Jinx?
Caitlin felt that even if she were given explosives, she probably wouldn't dare to blow up a building, given that kind of girl who had to think of an alias for ages and just showed up wearing a teddy bear headgear.
"Alright, Miss Lux, could you please untie the ropes on my arm?"
"As you can see, I can't escape from here. I just want my arm to feel a little better."
Without the psychological pressure, Caitlin took the opportunity to make her request.
She was a principled police officer, and by all accounts, she should have arrested the "criminal" in front of her.
However, Caitlin is also an empathetic person.
She planned to have a serious talk with Jinx to find out what her real purpose was in kidnapping her.
If it were just for some trivial reason, Caitlin would be willing to give the other person a chance, treating it as just another prank.
Even if the prank ruined her favorite mirror in the house.
"Loosen the rope? No! I... well, it's not impossible."
Jinx instinctively wanted to refuse.
But soon, the words Aaron had once warned her came to mind, softening her stance.
Finally, she muttered Zaunian swear words that Caitlyn couldn't understand, reluctantly grabbed one end of the rope, and casually tore off the restraints binding Caitlyn—the way she was tied up was not secure at all, which made Caitlyn feel even more that Jinx wasn't a bad person.
"I should have just held back."
Jinx threw off the ropes, not caring what Caitlin would do after regaining her freedom, and threw herself onto the soft mattress.
She does regret it now.
After regretting overhearing Caitlin's sarcastic remarks outside the bathroom, he lost control of his emotions and went berserk, wanting nothing more than to kill Caitlin.
For the previous nine years, Aaron had never been kind to anyone around him, except for Jinx, whom he took special care of.
This fostered an almost possessive dependence in Jinx.
Until Caitlin appeared—
Jinx managed to remain composed when she saw Aaron speaking softly to Caitlyn. However, when she learned that Aaron was going to stay in Piltover all night, a tremendous anxiety welled up inside her.
Has Aaron fallen for that Piltover girl and now he doesn't want me anymore?
Did he stay in the upper town just to avoid me?
Did I do something wrong to upset him...?
Jinx's increasingly depressed thoughts, mixed with self-doubt, swirled wildly in her mind, and did not lessen even after talking to Hilko. On the contrary, Hilko failed to see through the girl's thoughts.
Finally, in the middle of the night, Jinx, who was suffering from insomnia, couldn't take it anymore. She left a note and headed straight for Piltover.
She wanted to see for herself what was so great about Caitlin during the day!
Jinx can assure you that she genuinely only wanted to spy on Caitlyn at first, and had absolutely no intention of breaking her window or even kidnapping her.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have left without even a machine gun.
The reason why such a big commotion has occurred and things have turned out like this is all Caitlin's fault for her foul mouth!
"If you want to leave, just climb up a few meters along those handrails over there."
Jinx shouted at Caitlyn with her back to her, then pretended Caitlyn wasn't there and muttered to herself:
"She's having a fight with her family, why would she suddenly mention your name? And say you're going to buy her breakfast, ugh!"
"So you can't blame me, I've been very obedient to you, okay?"
Jinx buried herself in the thick cushions, cuddling with the doll she had made herself—a small, abstract figure with the letter "G" embroidered on it, representing Aaron.
Although Jinx never mentioned Aaron's name from beginning to end, Caitlyn, who witnessed the whole thing, guessed who Jinx was talking to remotely after rubbing her wrists a couple of times.
Her keen intuition allowed her to quickly grasp the relationships between the characters:
Jinx, who kidnapped him but remained very restrained throughout, must be quite close to Aaron, the suspect who left him helpless last night!
and……
Caitlin squinted, crossed her arms over her chest, and her mind raced:
Both men were from Zaun and were involved in the cargo ship fire that day.
Based on the information available, Jinx kidnapped herself probably because Aaron was with her last night, and she mentioned Aaron's name while taking a shower.
So why did Aaron approach him?
And those dark clouds that still shroud the cargo ship fire and that I can't see through... perhaps I can find the answers by using Jinx!
and so……
"I have no intention of leaving."
Caitlin raised her head and said with a smile that surprised Jinx as well.
She pulled up her pants, then, just like when she was tied up, sat down on the spot—
"I think you must have had a reason for doing all this today, so I'd like to have a good talk with you, Ms. Jin... Lux."
